Hike from Laion to the Malga Unterpulg

The Malga Unterpulg, which is open until the end of October, is the destination of an easy and scenic autumnal walk that starts in Laion

On a beautiful day in October we follow the wide "Poststeig" path (no. 34) from the centre of Laion, which leads us through the meadows above the village. The view there extends from Laion at our feet to the towering Sassolungo, the 3,181 m high main peak of the homonymous mountain group. After the hamlet of Ceves (Tschöfas), the path leads us alternately through meadows and forests, which now show themselves in bright autumn colours.

After a 1.5 hour walk we reach the Unterpulghütte mountain hut at 1,560 m a.s.l. We choose a table outdoor so we can enjoy the mild autumn sun and the fantastic view on Mt. Sciliar and the northern slopes of the Alpe di Siusi. After the break we return to Laion. Instead of the way there we choose the forest path no. 35, which brings us directly back to our parking space.
