The Uhrerhof in Bulla is home to Europe’s highest rose garden, with over 6,000 roses and 250 varieties

On a slope above the Val Gardena, behind the Hotel Uhrerhof in Bulla - originally a 16th-century farmhouse - you can gaze out over a sea of blossoms and enjoy the view of the Dolomites and Ortisei. The garden was created in 2009 by the owner, Lotte Zemmer, who laid it out on terraces.
The roses - climbing, hybrid tea and shrub roses - are labelled, and benches invite you to sit and relax. One of the 250 different varieties is named "Dolomiti". What makes this colourful garden special is its altitude: You are at 1,500 metres. The rose garden is also notable for its charming decorative elements, such as sculptures, glass spheres and plaques with sayings.
For example, on one of the planters, you can read: "A garden without flowers is like a life without love". This special setting, reminiscent of King Laurin's Rose Garden, is a place of peace and relaxation on fine summer days.
The rosarium can be visited during the hotel's summer season. A guided tour, "Mills and Rosarium", is also offered from the Val Gardena during the warmer months.
