The Post Trail (Sentiero della Posta) from Laion to Ortisei is particularly beautiful in spring and autumn

We start our hike in the picturesque village of Laion on a sunny November day. The sky is covered only by few clouds and we are looking forward to spending a day in nature. On the horizon we recognise some impressive Dolomite peaks: the Sella group, the Sassolungo, the Sasso Piatto (and later the Seceda) which tower in the blue sky.
We cross extensive meadows outside the village of Laion. We walk slightly uphill towards Ceves and Tanurza and arrive at S. Pietro. Before reaching the village we need to cross a dense forest. Having left the village centre of S. Pietro behind us, we take a path to the centre of Ortisei.
Note: the Post Trail (Troi de la Posta in Ladin) was used to carry letters from Chiusa into the Val Gardena. It is not particularly difficult and runs along a wide path with only few ascents and descents. Only the final stretch from S. Pietro to Ortisei requires some physical fitness.
