Every village in Val Gardena offers numerous possibilities for ice skaters
In former times, ice skating could be practised only on natural ice. During the last decades, however, many artificial ice rinks were built. Here, ice skating is possible also on warm winter days.
In Val Gardena ice skating is a popular sport. The local hockey club HC Gherdëina hockey club was founded in the 1920s and looks back on a long history. The world-famous figure skater Carolina Kostner is from Ortisei.
The Pranives ice stadium in Selva Gardena is open to the public on certain days from early July to early September and from mid-December to early April. The facility also includes a sports hall, a bar, a pizzeria and an outdoor football field. This training hosts the training sessions and some of the matches of the HC Gherdëina. The villages of Ortisei and Santa Cristina feature outdoor ice rinks.
The natural ice rink near the Iman Center in Santa Cristina is open to the public every afternoon from Christmas to February, just like the Setil ice rink in Ortisei. Both facilities provide an ice skates hire. We wish you great fun!
