S. Cristina, the neighbouring village of Selva Gardena, is located at 1,428 m a.s.l
The municipality of S. Cristina in the Valgardena valley consists of the village itself and the surrounding meadows and forests stretching from the Gruppo delle Odle in the north to Mt Sassolungo in the south.
By the Col Raiser Cable Car you can easily reach the alpine pastures beneath the Odle mountain group with the peaks of Fermeda and Sass Rigais, in summer a popular hiking area, in winter, however, a skiing area in the Puez-Odle Nature Park. From the southern side of the village, a lift takes hikers into the recreational area of Monte Pana, from where you can e.g. start your hike to Alpe di Siusi. Whether in summer or winter, a trip to Mt Sassolungo is a must, accessible by the Saslong Cable Car.
The most striking attractions in the village are Gardena Castle (Fischburg in German) as well as the S. Cristina di Bolsena Church. This pilgrimage church dates back to the 12th century and has repeatedly been restored and enlarged. St. Christina is characterised by a lively cultural and club life; for example, the local music band has been in existence since 1856.
