A Christmas Market in the heart of the Dolomites is something very special, this can be experienced in every village in the Val Gardena valley
The Advent period is a very special time in the Val Gardena valley: wooden huts in the heart of the snow-covered village centres of Ortisei and Selva Gardena invite to a winter walk with a hot drink. Christmas carols contribute to a tranquil atmosphere, and delicious food and self made items as well as wood carvings are on offer.
Ortisei is known as the "Nicest Christmas Village in the Alps". The aroma of homemade delicacies, the Christ Child post office and the rustic huts of the Christmas village invite visitors to have a lovely time. Furthermore local musicians and bands play peaceful Advent music.
At Santa Cristina you can visit the larger than life-sized Christmas crib at the Centre Iman, realised by sculptors of the Val Gardena. The crib is accessible all-year-round but is especially magical in the Advent period just before Christmas. And at the Monte Pana lake you can enjoy a magical atmosphere on December 11th and 18th.
Of course, also the village of Selva Gardena offers a special Christmas atmosphere with Christmas carols and a 300 m long old-fashioned cable car of miniature wooden cabins, shining with fairy lights.
