Tobogganing

Whizzing on two runners through snow-covered meadows in the Val Gardena and on the Alpe di Siusi, reachable from Ortisei

Many huts rent out toboggans and serve delicious meals, perfect for fuelling up before your descent. You can choose from several runs, including some on the Alpe di Siusi, which you can reach directly from Ortisei by cable car:

Toboggan run on the Rasciesa:

The Rasciesa Funicular starts on the edge of the village of Ortisei. A wonderful toboggan run leads from its top station down to the middle station.

Toboggan runs on the Alpe di Siusi:

  • Icaro-Monte Piz (1.7 km toboggan run)
  • Bullaccia Lift (1.8 km toboggan run)
  • Molignon Hut-Saltria (2.8 km toboggan run)
  • Williams Hut-Saltria (2.9 km toboggan run)

Tobogganing rules:

For your safety and that of others, you should observe a few basic rules.

  • Before you start, check if the run is open and what the conditions are like.
  • The right equipment includes warm clothing and sturdy shoes.
  • Ski goggles are often useful, and for moonlit tobogganing, you will also need a headlamp.
  • When walking up, go in single file and keep to the inside edge of the curves to avoid hindering descending tobogganers and endangering yourself.
  • Familiarise yourself with the braking technique before you set off.
  • Right at the start, test if you can brake, and if you fall, leave the run immediately.
  • Important: Helmets are mandatory for anyone under the age of 18!
