2031 Alpine Ski World Championships

The slopes of the Val Gardena Skiing Area will host the Alpine Ski World Championships in 2031

South Tyrol will host several major sporting events in the coming years: As part of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, the biathlon competitions will take place in Anterselva. The organising committee for the Val Gardena World Cup races is now preparing for the 2031 Alpine Ski World Championships. This event was recently awarded to the valley, along with the 2030 Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships, which will traverse the famous Dolomite passes.

The experienced organising committee of the Ski World Cup in the Val Gardena, is managing the preparations. This event has taken place on the slopes of the Val Gardena Skiing Area since 1969 and is an annual meeting point for the world's elite in Super-G and Downhill.

It is confirmed that the technical discipline races in February 2031 will be held on the Ciampinoi piste. This runs from the mountain station to the sunny starting slope of the Saslong, and then continues over several steep sections through the forest down to Selva Gardena.

Further venues and the exact dates are still being determined. To this end, an initial meeting already took place in autumn 2025 between representatives of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI), the mayors of the Val Gardena municipalities and of Castelrotto, and the board of the Saslong Classic Club.
