Historic mills from the 18th and 19th centuries located above Ortisei in the Val Gardena

You can reach the centuries-old grain mills in the Bulla Gorge with a 20-minute walk from the village of Bulla. You should allow about two hours for the entire two-kilometre mill trail, called "Mühlenwaderung", in German, or "percorso dei mulini", in Italian, which follows path no. 3A.
The mills were built by villagers in the 18th and 19th centuries to grind locally grown grain. When milling operations ceased in the 1970s, the Droch, Zaramin, and Rumanon Mills were left to fall into ruin. Today, the Rumanon and Droch Mills have been restored and are partially working.
Of the other mill, only the ruins remain. On a guided tour during the summer and early autumn months, you can also gain an insight into the miller's craft and the way of life at the time, and look inside the century-old buildings.
