Winter hike from Bulla to the Alpe di Siusi

Through the Bulla Gorge above Ortisei up to the snow-covered Alpe di Siusi: a tobogganing and winter hiking tip

Bulla, the small village on the southern slope of Ortisei, is the starting point of our winter hike to the Alpe di Siusi. From the village centre at the church square, we follow the road southwards - initially flat, then gently rising. Where the snow-covered meadows end and the forest begins, lies the Lavies farm, where we warm up with a hot drink.

It is particularly cold outside today, and the first part of the hike is in the shade. The path now heads uphill - the comfortably wide trail is covered in snow and runs through the forest of the Bulla Gorge. This forms a beautiful, secluded valley between the Bullaccia and Piz.

Finally, the first rays of sun reach us from the Alpe di Siusi. Soon the forest thins out, and we arrive at the ski slope. We continue further up to the sunny Alpe di Siusi. Before reaching the Ritsch Schwaige, we turn off towards the Hotel Icaro, where we spend the afternoon and enjoy a great view of the wintery Alpe di Siusi with the Sciliar and the Sassolungo Group.

The return journey follows the same path. From the Bocia de Mont or Hotel Monte Piz, the path is suitable for tobogganing.
