Ski tour to Mt. Col Toronn

The Col Toronn is a vantage point opposite the mighty Sella Group and high above the Gardena Pass

The starting point of our tour is the pay-and-display car park in the Vallunga, which branches off near Selva Gardena and leads into the Puez-Odle Nature Park. The location of the car park itself, beneath the rock faces, is spectacular. From here, we continue on skis into the valley to the Sylvester Chapel. Here, the summer trail to the Chedul valley branches off to the right - the path climbs relentlessly and steeply up through the forest (this can be difficult when icy).

The route continues through more open woodland. Soon the forest is behind us and we make our way along beneath the imposing walls of Mont Desseura. At the end of the valley, the steep slope below the Crespeina pass (2,528 m a.s.l.) awaits us, which we climb using numerous kick turns.

From the pass, we either continue a little further on skis to the right, then walk to the summit of Col Toronn, preferably with our skis on our rucksacks. Alternatively, we continue on skis below the rocks. This is how we reach the highest point. When snow conditions are very stable, we can also ascend directly to the summit (2,652 m a.s.l.) at the head of the valley, without the detour via the Crespeina Pass. The tour is particularly impressive from a scenic perspective.

We travel along the base of massive rock faces, and the view back takes in the Sciliar. From the summit, the Sella Group is the highlight of the panorama. The descent follows the ascent route.
