Decorated with colourful ribbons, this tradition demands young men give the young woman who has caught their eye a pear as a sign of their interest. In Ortisei, guests can follow instructions from turner Samuel and make a traditional present: a wood-carved pear, decorated with charming carved leaves and a stalk, all wrapped in a bow and with its own handwritten romantic message.
