Hiking tour from Monte Pana to the Rifugio Vicenza
From Monte Pana to the Rifugio Vicenza, along the rocky trail at the foot of Mount Sassolungo.
The starting point of our hiking tour to the Rifugio Vicenza, Monte Pana, can be reached from S. Cristina either by car or by ski lift.
From Monte Pana, we follow the forest road n. 30 towards South, which leads us gently upwards through the forest of S. Cristina. At the fork we take the “J.-Santer-Weg“ (n. 525), turning left. Soon we arrive at the Pian di Confi, a very beautiful mountain meadow at the foot of Mount Sassolungo. Continuing our tour we are getting closer and closer to the impressive rocks of Mount Sassolungo and Mount Sassopiatto. After an exhausting ascent we arrive at another fork, where we continue our tour on trail no. 525.
Arrived at the Rifugio Vicenza at 2,253 metres asl, we enjoy the fresh mountain air and the fantastic view of the surrounding mountains.
After a very pleasant rest we start our way back to Monte Pana. After a short descent from the mountain hut we follow a small trail, which leads us to trail no. 526. Hiking over rocky ground we arrive at Col Ciaulonch, the mountain ridge between Piz Ciaulonch and Mount Sassolungo. From here, we continue our tour on trail no. 526B, leading to Mont de Seura. Hiking towards South we cross a forest before we turn left at the next fork. Trail no. 528 leads us directly back to our starting point, Monte Pana.
