Laion

This village is located at the entry of Val Gardena at 1,100 metres above sea level

Located at the entry of Val Gardena, Laion boasts a stunning view of Val d'Isarco and is actually divided into five quaint little hamlets. The beautiful surroundings, high-quality hotels and the serene natural scenery render Laion a popular holiday destination. Worth seeing are above all the St Stephen's Church and the local museum, featuring important archaeological findings.

Every year at the end of summer, when the shepherds move the cattle from the mountains to the valleys, a nice festival, the so-called "Almabtrieb", is organised. Numerous visitors and tourists join and take part in this particular event. But what makes Laion especially popular is its good wine and the centuries-old "Törggelen" tradition, when the new wine is tasted and home-made delicacies are served.
