Val Gardena Ciasp

A very popular snow shoeing race on Mount Pana in the environs of S. Christina.

In the last few years, snow shoeing has become more and more popular among winter sports enthusiasts, also in South Tyrol. In the Val Gardena, every year in January, the athletic sports club Atletica Gherdeina organises the “Val Gardena Ciasp”, a snow shoeing race on Mount Pana near S. Cristina, which got its name from the Italian name for snow shoes: ciaspole.

On the “Val Gardena Ciasp” the participating athletes have to cover a distance of 5.5 km on the cross-country ski run on Mount Pana in less than 2 hours. But don’t worry, the best cross-country skiers need less 30 minutes!

Since 2009 the “Val Gardena Ciasp” has been included in the race calendar of the “Italia Cup”. And if you don’t feel expert enough, you can also take part in an easier race organised for amateurs.
