The charming vocalist of traditional popular music Belsy comes from the Val Gardena and enchants her devotees with song such as “Madre di Dio”.
Demetz Belsy Khan was born in India and was adopted with one year by Erika and Raimund Demetz from Selva Gardena. With 7 years only, she participated in the international children’s festival “Zecchino d’Oro” and joined the choir „Cor di Mutons de Sëlva“. At the age of 8, Belsy presented her first solo disk in Selva Gardena. For the first time in front of a large attendance she sang at the open air of the “Kastelruther Spatzen”, a very famous local band, in 2002.
In the South Tyrolean Gran Prix preliminaries, Belsy achieved the fantastic first place in 2003, in the final she came third. A series of live and tv appearances followed. With the popular song “Madre di Dio”, Belsy came second in the local Gran Prix preliminaries of 2004. Together with Rudy Giovannini she won the music competition in 2006, while in 2010 she won for Germany together with Florian Fesl.
Belsy’s songs can be intended as bridging the gap between folk music and pop songs and are an interplay of romantic and soft lays and catchy melodies.
