The Val Gardena Ronda Express is the newest attraction in the marvellous winter paradise of Val Gardena. The underground funicular railway with two compartments and a switch in the middle of the route connects the ski area Col Raiser/Secëda with the ski area Sochers/Ciampinoi and thus the ski area Sella Ronda.
Interesting figures:
The railway covers a distance of 1.2 km and is able to transport some 2,000 people per hour with an average speed of 10 m/sec (some 36 km/h). This sums up to an overall transport time of 3 minutes.
Construction works started in March 2003 and on May 21, 2004 the breakthrough of the tunnel was celebrated. The Val Gardena Ronda Express has been on service since December 2004.
