International Museum Day 2009

On Sunday, May 17, 2009 the International Museum Day 2009 takes place.

On May 17, 2009, Museums in South Tyrol celebrate the the International Museum Day. Every year, the ICOM (International Museum Council) proclaims a special motto for this day and this year’s motto is “Museums and Tourism”.
Since 1977 this special Museum Day used to take place in May and since 2005 also South Tyrol takes part in this initiative. On this day, South Tyrolean Museums offer a special programme for children and families. According to the motto, museums promote various aspects of their work and promote their initiatives.

Also the Museum Gherdeina in Ortisei in Val Gardena takes part in the International Museum Day 2009 and offers special initiatives regarding the motto “Museums and Tourism”.
