The so called „Gardenissima“ is the world’s longest and most innovative giant slalom, taking again place this year on Sunday, March 28, 2010. The start of the race is scheduled for 8.30 am and it is staged at the Seceda ski slope.
So far more than 600 athletes have registered for one of the 30 different categories. Participants have to overcome a 6 km long course and a difference in altitude of 1,000 m asl, presenting 88 gates. With peak times of about 4 minutes, this giant slalom is three or four times as long as an average giant slalom in World Cup and event for professional skiers this competition is a real challenge. By the way, there is a real-time webcam attached in the start area, broadcasting the Gardenissima in real-time.
