Nordic Walking

Nordic Walking, a healthy way of exercising, is a mix of jogging and walking

Essential for doing Nordic Walking are the walking poles of carbon fiber or other materials: their length must be about 70% of your height. When you keep them in your hands, the angle of the elbows need to be approximately 90 degrees. Specific shoes are advisable if you decide to walk in the forest or steep paths, otherwise you can also wear normal trainers or light walking shoes. With the proper technique, you will now be utilizing up to 90% of your body’s muscle while increasing your heart rate significantly. Recent studies prove that Nordic walking burned more calories, increased oxygen consumption, and can be up to 46% more efficient than normal walking.

The Val Gardena valley is ideal for this sports, as it offers a Nordic walking park. Starting point is the head of the valley in the Vallunga. The red route is 6 km long, is of medium difficulty and takes you about 1-2 hours. The blue route, however, is 3 km long, easy and takes about 20 - 40 minutes only. The black one takes about 2-3 hours, its altitude difference is 190 metres. Keep on walking!
