The Val Gardena singing star

Demetz Belsy Khan was born on December 23, 1984 in India. At the age of one she was adopted by Erika and Raimund Demetz from Selva Gardena in Val Gardena. In early childhood already Belsy she discovered her passion for music and singing.

At the age of seven she took part in the „Zecchino d’Oro“ International Children Festival and then joined the „Cor di Mutons de Sëlva“ choir. Thanks to her producer Luis Stuflesser, Belsy was able to produce her first CD called „Alles was von Herzen kommt“. This was on May 11, 2002 in the Selva Gardena Congress Centre.

After several regional performances in Val Pusteria, on June 15, 2002 Belsy gave a huge open-air concert together with the Kastelruther Spatzen, South Tyrol's number one folk music band. Singing for some 7,000 people, this day became the highlight of her just starting career. In 2000, the young girl moreover was voted “Miss Exon Girl”.

In the South Tyrolean qualification for the 2003 Folk Music Grand Prix, Belsy made a fantastic first place - she caught as many votes as those on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place all together! And in the finals of the 2003 Folk Music Grand Prix she came third.

Also the following year was a good one for Belsy: In the qualification for the 2004 Folk Music Grand Prix she placed second with her song “Madre di Dio”. And it was thanks to this song that she came second even in the finals!
Both songs were produced by the composer Marco Diana, the songwriter Heiner Graf and the producer Luis Stuflesser.

Belsy's songs are actually a bridge between folk music and folksy pop songs and gentle romantic ballads alternate thus with rhythmic pop songs.

In the meantime, Demetz Belsy Khan graduated the Kaiserhof hotel management school and has dedicated herself completely to her singing career while helping her adoptive parents with their hotel.
